we've got the solution

  1. Where can I obtain a claim form?
All claim forms are easily accessible off our website.

  2. Do I have to report an accident to the police?
Yes, all accidents involving another vehicle have to be reported to the police.

  3. My debit order did not go through. What must I do?
Call us immediately. We will either arrange a special debit or make a note on the system to double-debit the following month. Remember: If no premium is received, there is no cover.

  4. How does ‘average’ affect me?
Should you experience a burglary at your residence and you have insured your contents at, for example, R100 000, the loss that you would incur would be around R50 000. If an assessor does an assessment and concludes that the actual value of your contents is, in fact,
R150 000, then ‘average’ would apply.
Your claim would be calculated as follows:
sum insured / value at risk x loss
    R100 0000 / R150 000 x R50 000 = R33 333.33

  5. What are the claims procedures?

    CLAIMS PROCEDURES

Insurers insist that any claim submitted should be fully documented. This documentation should consist of the following:

    CLAIM FORM

    • General claim form for losses such as all risks, burglary and fire.
    • Motor claim form for any claim involving a motor vehicle.
    • Windscreen claim form for a damaged windscreen.
    • Liability claim form for a claim where the client has damaged property belonging to a third party. Please note that this does not apply to the motor claim form (interpretation OK?).
    • Personal accident claim form where the client has sustained injury.

It is imperative that all questions on a claim form are answered correctly, as insurers do not accept an incomplete document and, in most cases, do not register a claim until they are in receipt of a properly completed claim form.

QUANTUM DOCUMENTATION

These are documents that support claims such as the following:

General

  • Receipts
  • Proof of payment
  • Operating manuals
  • Photographs
  • Replacement quotations
  • Invoices for items already replaced

Cell Phones

Insurers require in each case (whether the phone has been lost, stolen or merely damaged) that the phone be blacklisted. They also require the blacklisting in writing, reflecting the relevant IMEI number together with the details of the particular phone.

Motor

  • Repair quotations
  • Towing invoices
  • Invoices for repairs already carried out
  • Registration certificates
  • Outstanding HP documentation from a financial institution
  • Change-of-ownership papers
  • Driver’s licence: Copy of valid drivers licence
  • Copy police reports
  • Witness statements

NB: Affidavits are not acceptable as proof of ownership and/or a quantum of a claim.

Where copies of documents are provided, it is essential that they are legible and relate to both the subject matter of the loss and the incident in question.

Please note that the above list is not exhaustive and that documentation may vary, as each claim has specific requirements.
